The Dance
Head lowered in prayer, he takes
his stance.
Red Hawk prepares for the
Traditional Dance.
Bustle and Roach are ready in place.
His colors are painted across his
face.
He feels the drums. His heart
knows the beat.
The voices are telling the tale of his
feet.
Searching and swooping and
raising his staff.
The Elders are watching this boy on
his path.
Such a small figure…. but what
does it hide?
His size is a lie for the spirit inside.
An old soul he is, quite wiser than
most.
The body outside is not the true
host.
The story is ending, his feet wait to
hear.
The drums will say stop when the
time is near.
Red Hawk dances to honor, he
desires no pay.
He just wants to dance forever this
day.
