             THE GIFT

Not just anyone can make a day seem
brighter.
Help carry your burdens, make the
load seem lighter.
I think of you so often and I need the
chance to say.
How thankful I am to be your friend
and be close to you today.

Sometimes I need encouragement,
kindness, love, and care.
You give it to me freely, you have lots
of heart to share.
You lift my spirit upward and I feel
like I can soar.
Across the wind on eagle wings, as
ancient thunders roar.

You have opened such a gateway, now
my words continually flow.
My mind is going places I had only
hoped to know.
My poetry, these words I write, take
inspiration to live.
A lot of that has come from you and
the friendship that you give.

Just today my heart was low, the
morning seemed so long.
Then you appeared and shared your
smile, so nothing could be wrong.
Your friendship is a precious joy, in
life we have so few.
I hope this poem gives you a smile, a
gift from me to you.
