Moses "Littlebear" Vallejo
I'm from Comanche, Cherokee, and Chumash blood I get
my Cherokee blood from my mother. My Comanche and
Chumash blood get from my father.  My grandfather and
my dad, what they didn't teach me I learned from other
elders that I have met along the pow-wow trail. I've been
going to pow-wows and selling and learning more about
the different tribes and customs for 13
years. I not only know the customs and history about my
own blood, but I also have learned about other Native
American tribes.
My crafts range from drums, headdresses, bows and
arrows, tanning hides (the old ways), beading, quillwork
and old style clothing (regalia) etc.... My work is based
on articles from the 1840's to the early 1900 's. I try to
keep all my work looking traditional and as authentic as
was traditionally seen and
used in that historic time frame.

I make and carry articles of both the plains nations and
the eastern nations as well, such as turtle shell pouches,
eastern style moccasins, beaded floral eastern designs
on pouches and hair pieces and skins. I also paint skins
with picture stores (History skins). I am always looking to
learn more about any Native
American history and learning more about the articles
that they used I also like sharing and teaching the history
to others. I want people to know the true history of the
Native Americans. I've also been talking at schools for 10
years. I've been invited to speak to schools in Mathis,
Corpus Christi, Sinton, Alice, Portland, Rockport, San
Antonio, Bee County College all of which are in
Texas. On my trips to the schools I teach about the ways
that the articles were used and I also dance the
Traditional and Eagle Dance for the students.  I am also
a northern traditional dancer. Our dance tells a story of
hunting and going out on a War Party. The steps and
movements of the dance tell when we have found our
game or and enemy. Our Regalia or dance outfit consists
of a
headdress, dance staff (eagles foot or eagles head),
single bustle worn on the waist, a long chestplate,
beaded yoke, cuffs, belt with sidetabs, shields and eagle
feathers.
